Dada is a 7-year-old girl and the eldest of three siblings. Her father lost his life during the war in Shabunda, South Kivu, leaving the family without their main source of protection and support. After this tragedy, her mother fled with the children to Kinshasa in search of safety and a better future.
Living in extreme poverty and without sufficient resources, Dada’s mother struggles daily to meet her children’s basic needs. Despite her efforts, the situation became overwhelming, and Dada, along with her two younger brothers, was placed in an orphanage to ensure they could receive shelter and care.
In the face of these hardships, Dada remains hopeful and shows remarkable courage for her age. She is resilient, gentle, and determined. When asked about her future, she says she dreams of becoming a nurse, so she can help care for others who are suffering, just as she has.
