David is six years old. He lost his father at a very young age during a time of war, a tragedy that profoundly marked his entire family. Since then, David, his sister, his brother, and their mother have lived with constant fear, insecurity, and grief.
To escape the violence and ensure their survival, the family was forced to flee their home region. The journey was long, painful, and filled with uncertainty. Eventually, they arrived in Kinshasa, hoping to find safety and better living conditions. Sadly, life there proved to be just as difficult.
Without financial resources, stable housing, or a support network, David’s mother became overwhelmed by the daily struggle to feed, care for, and protect her children. Despite her love and determination, she was no longer able to provide for their most basic needs.
Faced with this extreme situation, and to prevent her children from ending up on the streets, she made an incredibly painful decision: David, his sister, and his brother were placed in an orphanage. This choice was made out of love, with the sole purpose of ensuring their safety, access to food, healthcare, and education.
Today, David lives in the orphanage, where he benefits from protection, supervision, and support adapted to his age. Although he is still fragile due to the hardships he has endured, he remains a hopeful child who dreams of a peaceful childhood and a better future. One day, David hopes to become an engineer.
