Gabriela is a resilient girl with a bright future ahead of her. She and her brother, Alvine, (also at the orphanage) experienced the heart-wrenching pain of parental separation at an early age. Unfortunately, their mother’s hopes for a better life were dashed when their father disappeared, leaving them to face the harsh realities of poverty. Their situation became increasingly desperate, leading their mother to abandon them in a market-place where they slept on cardboard and stole for food. Thankfully, they were rescued and brought to the safety of the orphanage.
